EMC’s VNXe1600 Aims To Address Several Needs At An Affordable Price

EMC will be releasing a new VNXe model, the 1600. We had previously reviewed the VNXe3200 and stated that a great advantage to the VNXe3200 was its attractive price point starting at $11,500. EMC’s VNXe1600 will come in at even a lower price point, around $8,000, and will bring the benefits of the VNX line to smaller and branch offices.

The VNXe1600 will address three main points: affordability, simplicity, and efficiency. The VNXe1600 starts at a low price and has its operating environment including in bundles along with advanced software features to keep prices down. The VNXe1600 will be simple to install and deploy. A non-specialist will be able to setup and deploy SAN solutions quickly. It’s small 2U form factor supports up to 80 VMs enabling an entire small office to be powered by a single device. The VNXe1600 comes with proactive service ecosystem and integrates with VMware and Microsoft virtualized environments.

We are currently testing a VNXe1600 in our lab and EMC shared two other configurations with us:
