EMC VNXe3150 Now Shipping
The EMC VNXe3150 which was announced at EMC World back in May, is now shipping worldwide. The unified storage system is designed for SMBs who need storage for cloud and virtualized environments, but need something easy to manage for IT generalists. The VNXe3150 is designed to support virtualization for up to 50 servers and is part of the EMC VSPEX Proven Infrastructure solutions for Citrix XenServer, Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware vSphere.
The VNXe3150 uses a 2U rack mount enclosure that contains 12 3.5" NL-SAS hard/flash drives or 25 2.5" SAS hard/flash drives. Buyers can opt for either single or dual controller options. Single controller versions support form 6 to 50 drives (up to 150TB RAW), where the dual controller configuration goes up to 100 drives (up to 300TB RAW). Both versions leverage a Xeon Quad Core processor, dedicated management port for each controller and offer support for RAID 5/6/10. For organizations that need just a bit more, EMC offers the VMXe3300, a 3U member of the family which offers dual controllers, more system RAM and support for up to 450TB of raw storage.
