Netgear Announces New ProSAFE 10GbE Smart Managed Switches

Netgear has announced the addition of three new powerful switches to its portfolio of second-generation ProSAFE 10GbE Smart Managed Switches: the XS748T, which offers 44 copper 10GBASE-T ports and 4 additional dedicated 1GbE/10GbE SFP+ ports for 10G fiber links; the XS716T, which includes 16 copper ports of 10-Gigabit connectivity, 2 of which are shared/combination copper/SFP+ Fiber ports for 10G fiber links; and the XS708T, which comes equipped with 8 copper ports of 10-Gigabit connectivity, 2 of which are shared/combination copper/SFP+ Fiber ports for 10G fiber links. All three switches are designed for small- and medium-sized businesses and other growing organizations, and fit nicely beside the ProSAFE 12-port XS712T and the 28-port XS728T Smart Managed Switch models.

NETGEAR Release New Arlo Q Plus Security Camera

Today NETGEAR Inc. announced that they have released yet another camera for their Arlo HD Camera System (formally the VueZone Camera System). This new release builds off of NETGEAR’s last Arlo Q camera that had two-way audio, built-in night vision, rolling seven days of free cloud storage for video recordings, and 1080p HD video. Unlike the previous version the Q Plus now support Power over Ethernet (PoE) and comes with a MicroSD card slot for local recordings in the event of a network failure.

Synology Network Video Recorder NVR216 Review

Synology has designed a storage solution that is optimized for easy PC-less surveillance in offices and small shops looking to leverage up to 4 IP cameras (or up to 9 with an upgraded unit). The NVR216 somewhat resembles one of Synology's 2-bay NAS units, but with an emphasis on providing HD video output with a small energy footprint and storage scalability (up to 7 drive bays with Synology's DX513) for future growth. Users can either connect the NVR216 directly to a monitor, or view camera feeds remotely with the DS cam mobile app (footage can be streamed in 720p/30FPS in either case).

Synology Releases VS360HD

Today Synology Inc. announced that they are releasing their latest VisualStation, VS360HD. The VS360HD can be paired with a Synology Network Video Recording system (NVR) running Synology’s Surveillance Station, providing a robust security system that doesn’t need a dedicated computer. The VS360HD can decode and display up to 36 channels of HD video.

HP today announced the mt41, a new laptop form-factor thin client with a 14-inch screen that is designed for mobile access through remote corporate, academic, and government infrastructures via the cloud. The mt41 runs Windows Embedded Standard 7E and features wired, wireless, and WWAN connectivity options and is offered with a choice of either AMD’s A4-5150M or A4-4300M dual-core CPUs. HP mt41 configurations are available as light as 4.59lbs and will be shipping in November.

Lenovo is announcing its ThinkCentre M32 thin client that features an Intel Celeron platform with plenty of legacy port support. The ThinkCentre M32 is designed for enterprises looking for a value offering that provides a desktop virtualization offering, and since data resides on the network with thin clients, capital investments and security threats (viruses, data theft, etc.) are minimized. Lenovo’s ThinkCentre M32 thin client also provides users with either the Linux-based thin client operating system called LeTOS or with Windows Embedded Standard 7. On top of the flexible OS offerings, Lenovo Terminal Manager (LTM) software is included to centrally manage thin clients. Lenovo developed that software with Devon IT.

The team over at Tripp Lite offered us an easy all-in-one solution with its SMARTRACK Series SRCOOL12K, Self-Contained Portable Air Conditioning Unit. The SRCOOL12K is available in 120V (SRCOOL12K) or 230V (SRXCOOL12K) models. The unit offers 12,000 BTU of cooling power that provides adequate cooling for a 500 square foot room. That makes the SRCOOL12K well-suited for our Enterprise Testing Lab's footprint.
