Lenovo S2200 and S3200 SAN Storage Arrays Announced

Lenovo has announced two new SAN storage arrays to add to its portfolio, the S2200 and the S3200, both of which offer SMBs with simplicity, speed, scalability and availability at an affordable entry-level price point. Lenovo also indicates that both storage SAN offerings are ideal for companies who want to transition to flash technology at a reasonable cost. Each new array is equipped with either a single or dual controller in a 2U form factor as well as the option of 12 and 24 drive bay configurations: the S2200 supports up to 96 drives whereas the 3200 supports 192. Additionally, while both are compatible with Fibre Channel, iSCSI and SAS, the S3200 has multi-protocol connectivity, enabling the simultaneous use of Fibre Channel and iSCSI.

Drobo Gets Spun Off Of Connected Data

Today Drobo announced that it has been acquired by an investment group comprised of seasoned tech executives. Drobo had been an independent subsidiary of Connected Data. Drobo will now be a standalone entity effective immediately. Terms of the deal were not announced.

Synology Launches DiskStation DS2015xs

Today Synology Inc. announced the launch of two new DiskStations, the DS2015xs and the DS3615xs (initially a non-US launch). Both of the new DiskStations are expandable with the 12-bay DX1215 expansion unit that has a 6Gb/s connection allowing connected drives to operate as internal drives. The DS2015xs is aimed at small to medium businesses while the DS3615xs is aimed large-scale businesses.
