Cavium QLogic Releases New FastLinQ Ethernet & Gen 6 FC Adapters For HPE

Today Cavium Inc. announced the release of new I/O adapters for both server and storage connectivity for Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s (HPE) ProLiant and Apollo Gen9 servers. The new adaptors are based off of Cavium's QLogic Fibre Channel and Ethernet technology. The new adaptors, HPE FlexFabric 10Gb 4-port 536FLR-T Adapter and the HPE StoreFabric SN1600Q 32GFC HBA, are designed to reduce costs and accelerate applications for enterprise, telecommunications, and the Cloud.

SonicWall Launches Secure Mobile Access 1000 Series OS 12.0

Today SonicWall made its first product enhancement announcement since becoming independent from Dell. SonicWall is announcing its SMA 1000 Series OS 12.0 that will provide policy enforced secure access to authorized remote and mobile users for all data types across any device. The company states that the new OS should bring even greater security to a world where more users bring their own device into the picture.

Facebook Introduces Its 2nd Generation Modular Switch, Backpack

Facebook has announced the release of its second generation modular switch, Backpack. Replacing the previous switch, 6-pack, the new switch, along with the Wedge 100, is designed to help Facebook reach its goal of 100G data center. Backpack’s specification has been submitted to the Open Compute Project for review.

Facebook Announces GA Of Its Wedge 100 Network Switch

In March of this year, Facebook announced its Wedge 100 top of the rack (TOR) switch. At the time Facebook had opened up the design of the Wedge 100 to the Open Compute Project (OCP). Mellanox & Micron Set Record With 1.2Tb/s Storage Performance

Mellanox Announces Driver Support For ConnectX-4 & RoCE For vSphere

Today at VMworld 2016 in Las Vegas, Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. announced that it now has software driver support for ConnectX-4 Ethernet and RoCE (RDMA over Converged Ethernet) on VMware vSphere. According to Mellanox, this will be the first time that virtualized enterprise applications will be able to realize the same industry-leading performance and efficiency as non-virtualized environments. This new software delivers new capabilities including increased Ethernet network speeds at 25/50 and 100 Gb/s, virtualized application communication over RoCE, and advanced network virtualization and SDN (Software Defined Networking) acceleration support.
