ioSafe NAS 1513+ Announced

ioSafe has announced the ioSafe NAS 1513+, expanding its product line to secure and protect up to 90TB of data per system with a disaster proof NAS appliance powered by Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM). The ioSafe 1513+ is catered towards business and pro-sumer markets, with the ability to store and protect massive data volumes and serve the data privately while bypassing expensive, vulnerable and slow public cloud options. With write speeds of 202.3 MB/s and read speeds of 350.9 MB/s, it will satisfy the demanding nature of hundreds of office users, virtualization, SANs, backup, disaster recovery, video surveillance systems, heavy use graphics or audio installations.

The ioSafe 1513+ provides hardened data storage through a 5-bay main chassis in combination with two optional 5-bay expansion modules for up to 15 drive bays per system. ioSafe's new NAS is designed to provide all the benefits of the private cloud with fast local transfer speeds but without the security risks and privacy issues usually associated the public cloud. Large amounts of video, audio, and data libraries can be secured locally and instantly be made available to remote workforce or clients when needed. There are also no third-party cloud providers involved, as all security systems and access are 100% controlled by the end user.

The high performance ioSafe 1513+ will be equipped with a 2.13GHz Dual Core Intel Atom CPU and 2GB of memory, which is expandable up to 4GB. The ioSafe 1513+ uses ioSafe’s patented DataCast, HydroSafe and FloSafe technologies to help protect data from loss in fire up to 1550°F and submersion in fresh or salt water up to 10 foot feet in depth for 3 days.

The ioSafe 1513+ is also certified for VMware and Hyper-V use as well as being compatible with the multiple protocols of Synology DSM platforms such as TimeMachine, iSCSI, SQL, FTP, DHCP, CIFS, NFS and more. Additionally, Cloud, photo, video and music apps are downloadable within the Synology administration web interface. Automated backups, cloud file synchronization, various RAID levels are all available and link aggregation and automatic failover (High Availability) are possible through quad gigabit network ports.

Pricing and availability

The ioSafe 1513+ main chassis will begin to ship sometime in March 2014 and optional expansion modules, floor mount kits, and rack mount kits will roll out in May 2014.
