LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 Thunderbolt Series 2TB HDD Version Now Available
LaCie, a Seagate company, has announced that its impressive Rugged USB 3.0 Thunderbolt Series hard drive is now available in a 2TB version, which is double the storage of its predecessor. The Rugged is built for heavy data users who require the complete mobility package and is the ideal companion to a new Mac or Ultrabook. LaCie's new Rugged ships with a Thunderbolt cable as well as a quick Install Guide and Complete Software Suite, which allows users to easily configure the device, password protect it, and set up automatic backups.
The new Rugged USB 3.0 is currently the highest capacity bus–powered storage solution on the market with Thunderbolt technology. In addition, the 2TB model is 15% faster than the previous version, reaching speeds up to 127MB/s. This performance boost allows users to transfer 750 RAW photos or one HD movie in less than one minute.
Despite its capacity upgrade, the new LaCie Rugged has not increased in size or weight and offers the same features that current users are accustomed to. It continues to feature USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt ports so consumers can take advantage of the fastest transfer speeds available on both the PC and Mac. Because USB 3.0 is backwards compatible, the LaCie Rugged has the ability to connect to any computer using USB 2.0. Additionally, with its rubber sleeve, the LaCie Rugged is MIL-compliant for superior data protection from accidental drops up to 1.2 meters (4 feet) so that users can be confident that their data is still accessible after the impact. AES 256-bit encryption is also included to help protect files from prying eyes.
The LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 Thunderbolt Series 2TB HDD is now available through the LaCie Online Store and LaCie Resellers for $299.99 (MSRP) and is protected by a two–year limited warranty.
