AIC Announces 1U 36-Bay Server Supporting Up To 576TB

At Flash Memory Summit 2017, several announcements have come out around increasing density of SSDs with more focus on NVMe drives this year. Every year there is also a big hubbub around some massively dense SSD that never seems to materialize or even have a real use case. This year Samsung announced a new form factor, NGSFF, which is smaller than 2.5” and has up to 16TB per drive and already AIC is announcing a server for it with its OB127-LX.

Intel Unveils New SSD Form Factors At FMS

At Flash Memory Summit (FMS) 2017, Intel unveiled some new form factors for its SSDs as well as some other changes to its data center SSD lineup. Intel unveiled a “Ruler” form factor SSD that, as the name implies, is long and skinny. Intel announced dual port Optane SSDs as well as dual port 3D NAND SSDs. And the company updated several of its SSDs for the data center with an eye on replacing enterprise HDDs.

NetApp AFF A200 Review

The NetApp AFF A200 is a 2U all-flash storage array that provides an attractive entry point to NetApp's enterprise flash storage portfolio. The AFF A200 features 24 front-mounted 2.5-inch drives managed by dual controllers, and powered by six-core Intel Broadwell-DE processors. The A200 can be accessed with either SAN or NAS workloads (or both). Samsung Introduces Several New V-NAND Solutions At FMS

At the Flash Memory Summit (FMS) 2017, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced several new V-NAND (Vertical NAND) memory solutions and technologies. These new technologies include the first 1Tb V-NAND chip, a 16TB Next Generation Small Form Factor (NGSFF) SSD, a Z-SSD with lower latency than NVMe, and Key value SSD technology. These new technologies aim to address issues such as the need for higher density in a smaller footprint, the increase of data-intensive applications due to artificial intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, and the need for lower and lower latencies.
