NETGEAR Orbi Pro WiFi System Review

Seagate BarraCuda Pro 12TB Review

Seagate has launched the latest update to their high-performance desktop 3.5" HDD line in the BarraCuda Pro family. Now available in capacities up to 12TB, the BarraCuda Pro is designed to meet the needs of professionals who want the high capacity that 3.5" hard drives offer, with as much performance as possible. To that end, the BarraCuda Pro features a 7,200 RPM spindle speed with 256MB cache, offering up to 250MB/s in sustained sequential transfer rates. Incidentally, 250MB/s is 30MB/s faster than the prior top capacity 10TB Pro drive. Seagate is also making sure they take care of their BarraCuda Pro owners with a five-year warranty and two years of Seagate Rescue data recovery included.

Red Hat Announces Container-Native Storage 3.6

Today Red Hat Inc. announced its new solution supporting containerized applications and infrastructure in Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform clusters, Red Hat Container-Native Storage 3.6. The latest version of Container-Native Storage comes right after the announcement of the companies enterprise-grade Kubernetes container application platform, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3.6. Red Hat states that the new Container-Native Storage will see a three-fold increase in persistent storage volumes per cluster.

Seagate Adds New 12TB Guardian Series HDDs

Today Seagate Technology expanded its popular Guardian Series of HDDs with new 12TB drives, IronWolf, IronWolf  Pro, and BarraCuda Pro. These new drives will have the highest capacity of currently shipping NAS and Desktop drives, along with Seagate’s proven reliability and performance. NetApp Announces Several Updates To Accelerate Data Fabric

Today the company announced that it is making some major upgrades and enhancements to its Data Fabric with new software releases including NetApp SolidFire Element, NetApp StorageGRID Webscale, NetApp ONTAP and OnCommand Insight. Mellanox Announces BlueField Software-Defined SmartNIC Adaptors

Today Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. announced the addition of the BlueField family of software-defined SmartNIC adapters to its portfolio. Designed for scale-out server and storage applications, these new adaptors bring new capabilities with their embedded ARM processor cores and accelerators. Based off of Mellanox’s BlueField SoC, the new SmartNIC adaptors are stated to have up to 200Gb/s of low-latency throughput.

NetApp & Microsoft Partner On Azure Enterprise NFS Service

Today NetApp announced that it would be the data services technology behind first-of-its-kind cloud- centric capabilities for the hybrid cloud. NetApp will be powering the first Network File System (NFS) service in the cloud, the Microsoft Azure Enterprise NFS Service. On top of that, NetApp and Mircosoft are announcing a handful of other deeper integrations surrounding Azure, Office 365, and AltaVault.

WD Releases World’s First 14TB Enterprise HDD

Today Western Digital Corp. (WDC), under its HGST brand, released the world’s first enterprise 14TB HDD, Ultrastar Hs14. The Hs14 is designed for cloud and hyperscale data centers that need more density. The Hs14 is host-managed, and leverages shingled magnetic recording (SMR) technology. Not only does the new Ultrastar drives deliver 40% more capacity, with its 14TB, WD states that it has more than twice the sequential write performance of its SMR predecessor.
