Compuverde & Microsoft Partner To Enable SMB File Transport Technology

Microsoft and data storage/cloud computing company, Compuverde, have announced a mutual license agreement that will enable access to Microsoft’s Server Message Block (SMB) file transport technology for Compuverde’s software-defined storage (SDS) solution. This partnership is specifically meant to address the need for a comprehensive network file sharing protocol for enterprises as they continue to migrate some or all of their data and applications to the cloud. Moreover, both companies indicate that combining these two technologies will allow users to offload programs and files from multiple servers across multiple locations simultaneously.

Cisco Announces 2Q18 Earnings

Cisco Systems Inc. reported its second quarter earnings for its fiscal 2018 year for the period ended January 27, 2018. The company saw an improvement in revenue but also reported a net loss due to the new Tax Cuts and Jobs act. The company announced that it would be repatriating $67 billion in foreign profits back to the United States.

NetApp Announces Its 3Q18 Financial Results

NetApp reported its financial results for its third fiscal quarter year of 2018, ended on January 26,2018. The company saw a small bump in revenue and a large jump in its net loss. NetApp’s stock took a sharp drop this morning after the earnings report yesterday afternoon.

Intel Introduces Its New P4510 Series SSD

Today Intel introduced its new data center SSD that it is calling “cloud inspired, storage optimized,” the Intel SSD DC P4510 Series. The new drive series offers up to 8TB in capacity and better performance and QoS than the previous version. Intel is also announcing broad industry collaboration on its EDSFF, or ruler, form factor.
