The drive seems to have failed because of mechanical problems. It operated decently until later half of this year (2002), suddenly it made strange noise, halted the entire computer and refused to operate at all. Seatools found no trouble in it (SMART-systems reported nothing out the ordinary) but using the drive required me to shut down for several hours before trying again. I still managed to make a backup of it but further use is impossible. |
