SandForce SF-2000 SSD Processor Family Announced

SandForce Inc. has announced the availability of its new SF-2000 SSD processor family, designed for use in Enterprise and Industrial-use SSDs. Key features of the processor include the following:

  • 6Gbps SATA III interface
  • DuraClass technology - improves MLC reliability, performance, and power efficiency
  • 60,000 sustained random read/write IOPS
  • 500MB/s sustained sequential read/write performance
  • 30nm- and 20nm-class flash support
  • Single-, multi-, and enterprise multi-level cell NAND flash memory support
  • Dual-ported SAS bridge support, including non-512-byte sector sizes for SAS deployment
  • TCG Enterprise security with selectable multi-banded 256/128-bit AES encryption
  • Advanced ECC engine

The SF-2000 series family includes three models; all include a 6Gbps SATA interface:

  • SF-2600: Enterprise SAS use, non-512-byte
  • SF-2500: Enterprise non-SAS
  • SF-2300: Industrial Temp

One of the key features of the SF-2000 is that it does not use external DRAM, which is ideal for optimal storage capacities and tiny form factors.

The SF-2000 family is projected to be about 100% faster than the company's current-generation SF-1565 SSD processors:

SandForce will demonstrate the SF-2000 at the Storage Networking World Exhibition, booth #413 (Gaylord Texan Hotel, Dallas, Texas, October 11-14).
