Synology Launches DiskStation DS213 and DS213+ NAS
Synology has announced the launch of its first new 2013 DiskStation NAS devices, the DS213 and DS213+. Both models offer two drive bays and are intended for SOHO and SMB use. The DS213 and the 213+ are available immediately and are priced near $300 and $370, respectively.
The chief difference between the two models is that the DS213+ offers a faster processor with hardware assist for 256-bit AES encryption. Both are designed to support backups from Windows and OS X clients along with ACL support for file-level access control, ADS support, and a notification system that can employ email, SMS, and push.
DiskStation devices feature Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR) for volume management and offer Synology's optional Cloud Station package to allow remote users to keep their files in sync without needing port forwarding, or leaving data on third-party server.
