Jefferies on May 17, 2022 [End User](https://www.storagereview.com/consumer) Boasting a 16″ screen, the ThinkPad P16 replaces both the [ThinkPad P15](https://www.storagereview.com/review/lenovo-thinkpad-p15-gen-2-review) and the [ThinkPad P17](https://www.storagereview.com/review/lenovo-thinkpad-p17-gen-2-review) as Lenovo’s premiere mobile workstation. (HP has done the same with its new [Z workstation laptops](https://www.storagereview.com/news/hp-launches-new-zbook-workstation-laptops).) It has a taller 16:10 aspect ratio screen for more vertical real estate than the 16:9 screens on previous generation P-series laptops, and further differentiates itself with a gray aluminum chassis and red accent stripe. An OLED display with pen and touch support is available. ![Lenovo ThinkPad P16 Gen 1 Front](https://www.storagereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/06_Thinkpad_-P16_Hero_Front_forward_facing_left-1024x614.jpg) ![Lenovo ThinkPad P16 Gen 1 Screen](https://www.storagereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/01_Thinkpad_P16_Hero_Front_forward_facing_Non_Touch_HD_Cam-1024x614.jpg) Performance-wise, the ThinkPad P16 elevates itself with Intel’s new HX-class Core processors, 55-watt models that are more powerful than the 45-watt H-class processors normally found in laptops like this. The HX-class chips are new for Intel’s “ [Alder Lake](https://www.storagereview.com/review/intel-core-i9-12900k-alder-lake-review)” processor generation. The Core i9 HX chips scale to 16 cores. These chips also allow the ThinkPad P16 to support up to 128GB of DDR5-4800 memory (via four SoDIMM slots). Storage goes up to 8TB (two M.2 PCIe Gen4 slots). ![Lenovo ThinkPad P16 Gen 1 Keyboard]() The ThinkPad P16 also features Nvidia’s refreshed graphics cards, going up to the 16GB RTX A5500 professional GPU. As with past ThinkPad P-series mobile workstations, the ThinkPad P16 carries Independent Software Vendor (ISV) certifications for creative and design apps. ## Lenovo ThinkPad P16 Gen 1 Specifications The ThinkPad P16’s basic specifications are as follow: - Intel Core i5, Core i7 and Core i9 HX-class (55-watt) processors - Up to: - 16GB Nvidia RTX A5500 graphics card - 128GB DDR5-4800 memory - 8TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 storage (RAID 0/1 supported) - 16″ 1920×1200, 2560×1600, or 3840×2400 screen - Wi-Fi 6E and 4G LTE WWAN - 94WHr battery - Dimensions (WDH): 14.3 by 10.5 by 1.2 inches - Starting at 6.5 pounds The ThinkPad P16 will be available late May 2022 starting at $1,979. **Engage with StorageReview** [Newsletter](https://www.storagereview.com/storage_newsletter) |  [YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/user/StorageReview "Opens in a new window") | Podcast  [iTunes](https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/storagereview-com-storage-reviews/id1060681115 "Opens in a new window")/ [Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/show/1y6VnznABhHeOSMOmbDTz0 "Opens in a new window") |  [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/storagereview/ "Opens in a new window") |  [Twitter](https://twitter.com/storagereview "Opens in a new window") |  [TikTok](https://www.tiktok.com/@storagereview?
