## U7 Pro XG and XGS Build and Design

The U7 Pro XG and U7 Pro XGS represent UniFi’s new flagship access points, staying true to the classic UniFi AP aesthetic while introducing a revamped, more refined design. With a thinner and flatter profile than previous models like the U7 Pro and U6 Pro, these APs blend seamlessly into modern environments while maintaining the Ubiquiti signature look. For the first time, these units are offered in two colors: White and Black, providing more flexibility to match various environments and preferences.

The U7 Pro XG measures Ø8.1″ x 1.3″ (206 x 32.5 mm), offering a compact yet high-performance form factor. The U7 Pro XGS, with a slightly larger diameter than the XG at Ø8.5″ x 1.3″ (215 x 32.5 mm), both maintain the same sleek height profile. Both units include a wall and ceiling mount made of stainless steel (SUS304) for durability and secure installation. Everything needed for mounting the unit is included in the box, with a level template to ensure proper alignment during installation, along with all the necessary screws and anchors.

![Ubiquiti UniFi WiFi 7 Access Points U7 XG and XGs Bottom]()

Both units feature a single multi-gigabit Ethernet port supporting 1/2.5/5/10 GbE speeds for network connectivity. Unlike previous models like the U7 Pro, which offered a 2.5 GbE uplink, the U7 Pro XG and U7 Pro XGS come with 10 GbE providing high-speed connectivity typically found in Ubiquiti’s Enterprise E7 and E7 Campus models. However, without the enterprise price. The U7 Pro XG requires PoE+ (22W MAX), while the U7 Pro XGS, with its higher performance demands, requires PoE++ (29W MAX) for full functionality.

These new access points support 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands, compatible with WiFi standards (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be, WiFi 6, and WiFi 7). Both models are mesh-enabled, allowing seamless integration into your network for expanded coverage. The U7 Pro XG offers coverage of up to 1,500 ft², while the U7 Pro XGS extends coverage to 1,750 ft², ensuring reliable connectivity across various environments. The U7 Pro XGS features 2 x 2 (DL/UL MU-MIMO) for the 2.4 GHz and 6 GHz bands, along with 4 x 4 (DL/UL MU-MIMO) for the 5 GHz band, delivering enhanced performance for high-density client device environments. Meanwhile, the U7 Pro XG is equipped with 2 x 2 (DL/UL MU-MIMO) across all three bands (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz), ensuring consistent throughput and efficiency.

## U7 Pro XG Series Overview: UniFi Network

Ubiquiti sent us the U7 XG and U7 XGS for this review, which are connected to our lab [**Pro Max 48 PoE**](https://www.storagereview.com/review/ubiquiti-pro-max-48-poe-switch-review) network. These are managed through the office [**UDM Pro Max**](https://www.storagereview.com/review/ubiquiti-dream-machine-pro-max-review), running UniFi OS version 4.1.13 and Network version 9.0.114 for this review.

![]()
After connecting the devices to our Pro Max PoE switch, we receive an alert in UniFi indicating that the devices are ready to be adopted. By clicking “Adopt,” the devices show as “Getting Ready.” This process typically takes 1-2 minutes. If the devices require updates, they will automatically update and may reboot during this time.

![]()
Once onboarded, we can now see our devices in the topology, where they interface with our Pro Max PoE switch. The access points are also labeled with a WiFi 7 badge, indicating their WiFi 7 capabilities, making it easy to identify them.

![]() In the** Radios > Radios** section, when viewing the U7 Pro XG and XGS, the three operating bands supported, 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz, along with the current channel width, active clients, and MIMO configuration. The key difference between the XG and XGS is that the XGS features a 4×4 MIMO radio on the 5GHz band, compared to the 2×2 MIMO radio on the XG.

## Conclusion

The Ubiquiti U7 Pro XG and U7 Pro XGS are groundbreaking additions to networking, blending cutting-edge technology with sleek, modern design. Their impressive 10GbE uplink capabilities, supporting speeds from 1G to 10G, ensure that users can easily meet the demands of today’s high-speed networks. This flexibility is crucial for adapting to various environments, from home setups to large-scale businesses. Including PoE+ for the U7 Pro XG and PoE++ for the U7 Pro XGS simplifies installation, reducing the need for additional power sources and enhancing efficiency. These devices are built to handle large numbers of devices, with the U7 Pro XG capable of supporting over 300+ devices and the XGS model handling 500+.

![Ubiquiti U7 XG and XGs AP Stacked]()

The standout feature of these devices is their WiFi 7 support, offering up to 8 streams with the U7 Pro XGS, providing users with enhanced capacity, faster speeds, and better overall performance. The device’s ability to support various connected devices while maintaining top-tier performance makes them ideal for environments with heavy traffic, ensuring smooth and reliable internet access across all connected devices. The U7 Pro XG and U7 Pro XGS represent a significant leap forward in wireless technology, offering unmatched performance, scalability, and design.
