Previously available in only a desktop or bulky multi-drive internal form factor, the M3 and P3 Portable drives measure just 0.78 inches thin (which is only 1/10 of an inch thicker than their 2TB drive) and weigh only 8.3 ounces. Samsung indicates that they are able to achieve a 4TB capacity in a compact drive due to the latest Samsung HDD technology. The P3 is available in a smart grey color while the M3 sports a slick black, patterned design. In addition, both drives operate at USB 3.0 speeds without requiring any external power supplies. ![]() **P3 Portable Quick Specifications** - Highlights: - Graceful design - Thin, compact size - SafetyKeyTM protection for your data - Capacities: 4TB, 2TB, 1TB, 500GB - Box contents - P3 Portable External Hard Drive - USB cable - Quick Install Guide - Software preloaded on the drive - Electronic User Documentation (PDF) - Operating system - Windows 8/7/Vista, Mac OS X 10.4.8 or later - Performance: SuperSpeed USB 3.0 (Max): 5.0Gb/s - Environmental: - Temperature (operating): 5° to 40°C (41° to 104°F) - Temperature (nonoperating): –20° to 65°C (–4° to 149°F) - Software - AutoBackup personal backup solution - Secure Drive for worry-free data security - SecretZoneTM can encrypt data on the device - Weight: - 236g (4TB), 166g (2TB), 150g (1TB), 140g (500GB) - Size: - 4TB – 82mm W x 118.2mm L x 19.85mm H (Max) - 2TB, 1TB, 500GB – 82mm W x 111mm L x 14.8mm H (Max) - Warranty: 3-year limited warranty ![]() **M3 Portable Quick Specifications** - Highlights: - Handy portable storage - Durable black design - SafetyKeyTM protection for your data - Capacities: 4TB, 2TB, 1TB, 500GB - Box Contents: - M3 Portable External Hard Drive - USB cable - Quick Install Guide - Software preloaded on the drive - Electronic User Documentation (PDF) - Operating system: Windows 8/7/Vista, Mac OS X 10.4.8 or later - Performance: SuperSpeed USB 3.0 (Max): 4.8Gb/s - Environmental: - Temperature (operating): 5° to 40°C (41° to 104°F) - Temperature (nonoperating): –20° to 65°C (–4° to 149°F) - Software: - AutoBackup personal backup solution - Secure Drive for worry-free data security - SecretZoneTM can encrypt data on the device - Weight: Weight (Max): 236g (4TB),169g (2TB), 151g (1TB), 141g (500GB) - Size: - 4TB – 82mm W x 118.2mm L x 19.85mm H (Max) - 2TB, 1TB, 500GB – 82mm W x 112mm L x 17.5mm H (Max) - Warranty: 3-year limited warranty **Availability** The Samsung 4TB M3 and P3 Portable hard drives are slated for a release sometime in late June through authorized distributors.
