Various updated options that support a range of different storage device combinations, as well as further NVMe connectivity to integrate denser, high bandwidth storage, have been added. ![]() These AMD EPYC server systems are based on the 7000 series EPYC processor and feature a multi-die design with 32 cores per processor, 128 PCIe lanes and 8 channels of DDR4 memory (with 32 DIMM slots), which translates into a very powerful range of servers with significant flexibility and expansion options. GIGABYTE indicates that these systems also lower TCO for datacenters by offering an optional balance of compute, memory, I/O and security. The newly refresh solutions support a wide range of different configurations as well: the R181-Z90 supports 4 x 3.5" hot-swap SATA/SAS drives, the R181-Z91 supports a mix of 2 x 2.5" hot-swap NVMe U.2 drives and 8 x hot-swap 2.5” SATA/SAS drives, and the R181-Z92 supports 10 x 2.5" hot-swap NVMe U.2 drives. Moreover, the R281-Z91 supports a mix of 6 x 2.5" hot-swap NVMe U.2 and 20 x 2.5" hot-swap SATA/SAS drives, and the R281-Z92 supports 24 x 2.5" hot-swap NVMe U.2 + 2 x 2.5” hot-swap SATA/SAS drives. The new five GIGABYTE systems also all feature 1 x NVMe M.2 slot for an additional ultra-fast storage device and are quoted to deliver up to 32Gb/s for M.2 and U.2 and up to 6Gb/s for SATA3. The high-bandwidth storage solutions are designed for use cases such as Big Data.  **GIGABYTE AMD EPYC server system specifications** | Models | R181-Z90 | | | | R181-Z91 | R181-Z92 | R281-Z91 | R281-Z92 | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | CPU | Dual AMD EPYC 7000 series processors | | | | | | | | | DIMM | 8-Channel RDIMM/LRDIMM/NVDIMM DDR4, 32 x DIMMs | | | | | | | | | LAN | 2 x 1GbE LAN ports | | | | | | | | | Storage | 4 x 3.5" hot-swappable HDD/SSD bays | | | | 2 x 2.5" U.2, 8 x 2.5” SATA/SAS hot-swappable HDD/SSD bays | 10 x 2.5" U.2 hot-swappable HDD/SSD bays | 6 x 2.5" U.2, 20 x 2.5" SATA/SAS hot-swappable HDD/SSD bays | 24 x 2.5" U.2 + 2 x 2.5” SATA/SAS hot-swappable HDD/SSD bays | | Expansion Slots | 3 x low profile PCIe Gen3 expansion slots | | | | 3 x low profile PCIe Gen3 expansion slots | 5 x full height + 2 x low profile PCIe Gen3 expansion slots | 5 x full height + 2 x low profile PCIe Gen3 expansion slots | 5 x full height + 1 x low profile PCIe Gen3 expansion slots | |   | 2 x OCP Gen3 x16 mezzanine slots | | | | | | |   | |   | 1 x M.2 PCIe slot | | | | | | | | | PSU | 2 1200W 80 PLUS Platinum redundant PSU | | | | | | | 2 1600W 80 PLUS Platinum redundant PSU | **Product pages:** [R181-Z90](http://b2b.gigabyte.com/Rack-Server/R181-Z90-rev-110#ov) [R181-Z91](http://b2b.gigabyte.com/Rack-Server/R181-Z91-rev-100#ov) [R181-Z92](http://b2b.gigabyte.com/Rack-Server/R181-Z92-rev-100#ov) [R281-Z91](http://b2b.gigabyte.com/Rack-Server/R281-Z91-rev-100#ov) [R281-Z92](http://b2b.gigabyte.com/Rack-Server/R281-Z92-rev-100#ov) [Discuss this story](http://forums.storagereview.com/index.php?/topic/40543-gigabyte-refreshes-amd-epyc-server-line/) [Sign up for the StorageReview newsletter](https://www.storagereview.com/storagereview_newsletter_signup) **Engage with StorageReview** [Newsletter](https://www.storagereview.com/storage_newsletter) |  [YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/user/StorageReview "Opens in a new window") | Podcast  [iTunes](https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/storagereview-com-storage-reviews/id1060681115 "Opens in a new window")/ [Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/show/1y6VnznABhHeOSMOmbDTz0 "Opens in a new window") |  [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/storagereview/ "Opens in a new window") |  [Twitter](https://twitter.com/storagereview "Opens in a new window") |  [TikTok](https://www.tiktok.com/@storagereview?
