QNAP Intros Affordable New Home Servers

QNAP has announced new 1-, 2-, and 4-drive Turbo NAS (Network Attached Storage) servers for home users and prosumers. The TS-x19P+ lineup have a built-in 1.6GHz Marvell processor, 512MB of RAM, and Gigabit LAN ports. The model lineup is as follows:

  • Single drive: TS-119P+
  • Dual drive: TS-219P+
  • Four drive: TS-419P+

Consumers can use the Turbo NAS servers to share digital pictures, music, and videos with other computers in the home. The Turbo NAS servers allow file sharing between PCs, Macs, Linux, and UNIX-based computers. Additionally, they can be used for automatic backup of computers on the network, function as UPnP-compliant media servers, and act as a standalone file server.

The TS-x19P+ series can accommodate 2.5- and 3.5-inch drives up to 2TB in capacity; storage capacity can be expanded by connecting other drives to the NAS via USB or eSATA.

The QNAP TS-x19P+ series Turbo NAS servers will be available this month. Pricing information has not been announced.
