AIC SB407-VA: High-Density 4U Storage Server Designed for Heavy-Duty Data Demands

AIC has introduced the SB407-VA, a new 4U high-density storage server engineered for data centers and enterprise environments where storage scalability, thermal efficiency, and high performance are mission-critical. This server is designed for IT professionals handling AI workloads, data lakes, and analytics-heavy processes that demand robust hardware and consistent uptime. Built to handle intensive processing needs, the SB407-VA supports 5th- and 4th-Gen Intel Xeon Scalable Processors, giving businesses the flexibility to align with evolving infrastructure strategies.

At the heart of the AIC SB407-VA is a suite of features that combine power, speed, and capacity. It supports up to 60 hot-swap 3.5-inch drives and an additional eight hot-swap 2.5-inch bays, accommodating a mix of SATA, SAS, and NVMe configurations. With PCIe Gen5 and DDR5 memory support, the system delivers high-speed data throughput and rapid processing, ideal for organizations managing complex compute tasks or massive storage arrays. The server also incorporates front-to-back airflow and hot-swappable redundant fans, which together maintain optimal operating temperatures under sustained workloads.

I/O and Components

The front panel of the SB407-VA is designed for simplicity and accessibility, featuring a power button, a reset switch, a single USB 3.0 Type-A port, and LED indicators for system power, alerts, LAN activity, drive activity, and system ID. This allows technicians to quickly assess system status and access basic controls without opening the chassis or reaching the back.

Moving to the rear of the unit, the SB407-VA provides essential connectivity options: one RJ45 port dedicated to BMC (Baseboard Management Controller) for remote management and two additional RJ45 ports for 1GbE networking. For peripheral support, there are two USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports and a VGA output via a standard DB-15 connector. The system management stack includes IPMI 2.0, iKVM, and Redfish support, making remote operation and monitoring straightforward for data center administrators.
