Synology has announced a lineup of innovative products targeted at home users and small businesses. These new offerings include the DiskStation DS423, the value-based Plus Series SATA HDDs, and the BeeDrive, a personal backup hub designed to simplify data protection. Synology’s latest product releases aim to address the storage and data management needs of home users and small businesses while prioritizing reliability, performance, and user-friendly features.
Available in 1TB and 2TB models, the Synology BeeDrive is a compact pod that offers a unique method for file backup and synchronization. It offers seamless and automatic backups of computer files, helping to eliminate the risk of data loss due to accidental mishandling or deletion. Once set up, BeeDrive continuously backs up files whenever it’s connected to a computer. This feature is particularly beneficial for independent professionals and casual users who desire a user-friendly backup solution.
Additionally, BeeDrive synchronizes the latest changes, making it an excellent option for users who frequently switch between work and home computers. It even provides photo and video backup capabilities for Android and iOS devices, making it a convenient choice for a broad range of use cases. Unlike public cloud services, BeeDrive is expected to deliver faster performance, as it is plugged directly into a computer via USB 3.2 Gen 2 connectivity and wirelessly connects to mobile devices via the local network. This means users can easily offload media and other mobile-generated files, facilitating on-the-go productivity.

The DS423 leverages the advanced Btrfs file system, which ensures data integrity through file self-healing and enables users to create point-in-time snapshots. These snapshots serve as reliable recovery points, allowing users to reverse unintended or malicious changes and ensure the utmost data protection. The DS423 also empowers businesses with collaboration features and video surveillance capabilities, further enhancing productivity and security.
Completing the lineup of new releases, Synology has introduced the Plus Series SATA HDDs to provide users with reliable performance options. These hard drives undergo rigorous testing and validation to ensure consistent operation in multi-user environments. The Plus Series HDDs come in various capacities, including 4TB, 6TB, 8TB, and 12TB, catering to different storage needs and budgets.
The Plus Series drives boast exceptional reliability, with a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 1 million hours and a workload rating of 180TB/year. Compared to conventional desktop hard drives, they offer up to three times the endurance rating. With over 300,000 hours of compatibility and stress testing, these drives certainly have the potential to boast smooth and reliable performance, even under heavy workloads.
Users can conveniently update the Plus Series drives directly from Synology’s DSM, eliminating the need for manual updates. Moreover, Synology’s comprehensive support and return process further simplifies the user experience.
