Today Veeam Software announced the general availability of Veeam Backup & Replication v11. While there was definitively a trend of remote work/working from home, in the last 12 months this has accelerated dramatically. According to 451 Research, a majority of enterprises state that at least 3/4 of their workforce can now effectively work from home. This increases the reliance on multi-cloud strategies while at the same time making data harder to manage and protect. While the pandemic seems to be winding down, hopefully, remote work and the possible issues it creates seem like it is here to stay. One of the big things in Veeam Backup & Replication v11 is security and ransomware protection that fends off increasing risks of cyberthreats.
Looking at the last point, the Veeam Service (BaaS) and Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) are brought to the market in 180 countries thanks to their partnerships with leading cloud and managed service providers. These services are seamlessly integrated into V11 through the use of the new Veeam Service Provider Console v5, a web-based platform for centralized management, monitoring, and customer self-service access of data protection operations. The newest version features expanded backup management for Linux and Mac. Console v5 also has monitoring and reporting of cloud-native AWS and Azure backups and enhanced security with multi-factor authentication.
With the new Veeam Availability Suite v11, we see the combination of the backup capabilities of Veeam Backup & Replication v11 with the monitoring capabilities of Veeam ONE v11. This is the best of both worlds with both data protection and visibility across all the environments. Veeam Availability Suite v11 also includes Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator for site recovery automation and DR testing to ensure business continuity.
