That’s quite a mouthful, and in this article, we will break down what that means and what benefits it brings. ![]() One of the key reasons we are reaching out to companies like ComputerVault is to help our readers alleviate the challenges posed by VMware’s new licensing model, which has been particularly onerous for their smaller customers. These changes have prompted companies and institutions to explore alternative ways to host virtual servers and desktops. Two of the most common alternatives people investigate are going to a public cloud provider or switching to another hypervisor. A DaaS has the benefit of not hosting the infrastructure to support it, but that also implies that you will have to decommission the infrastructure you already have in place. Furthermore, corporate and governmental restrictions may prevent off-site computing and data. The cost of public clouds needs to be carefully monitored and managed; we have more than one horror story about companies being hit with a bill they were not expecting due to overconsuming resources. Switching hypervisors will incur costs in purchasing virtualization licenses and retraining staff, which is especially troublesome for smaller companies. ComputerVault offers a unique solution that addresses the challenges posed by VMware’s licensing changes. It provides a way for those looking to move off their VMware platforms as they install their virtualization software on a company’s hardware and remotely manage the systems. Hence, we see this as a turnkey, IaaS private cloud offering. ComputerVault has designed the installation and migration process to be hassle-free. They will come to your location, install their hypervisor on servers, and then migrate your existing VMs to their platform. They then take on the day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of the virtual machines and infrastructure at a fixed per-VM price. By doing this, you do not need to retrain your staff to care for and feed your VMs as they handle it using a dedicated remote team of administrators. ComputerVault will expand your environment for you. Purchase the hardware, and they will add it to your cluster. They are hardware agnostic and support servers from all major vendors. For those who need to migrate from a VDI solution, ComputerVault’s proprietary solution can stream virtual desktops to users on their PC, laptop, mini-PC, Raspberry Pi, tablet, Netbook, phone, and other devices. ComputerVault is extremely excited about two new features in its platform: cvAMT (Automatic Migration Tool), which is used to migrate VMware VMs to its platform, and cvGPU, a centralized GPU sharing solution that allows you to dynamically allocate GPU power across your infrastructure for maximum efficiency and performance. cvGPU can be used for AI, machine learning, and video rendering. cvARM, yet to be released, is a technology that will dynamically manage resources on the ComputerVault Platform, moving virtual machines with high resource usage to servers with low demands to maintain service availability and operational efficiency. Given VMware’s recent changes in business models and announcements, users are looking for alternatives. For those users, ComputerVault may present an economically viable alternative as it delivers a fully supported solution managed by a dedicated team of workers with an annual seat license based on the number of VMs. This license includes installation, deployment, migration, and support. By going to ComputerVault you eliminate the need for additional administrators or retraining your technical staff. This is a unique solution that we haven’t encountered before, and we look forward to investigating solutions like this in the future.
