The Samsung Pro Endurance is the newest microSD card in their portfolio leveraging highly reliable enterprise-grade NAND flash memory. Samsung built the Pro Endurance with longevity in mind as this card can handle writes for up to 16 years or 140,160 hours of 1080P video (varies by capacity from 32GB to 256GB) so every critical moment is captured. The Pro Endurance also features strengthened durability since outdoor surveillance and body cameras can have harsh conditions along with speeds of up to 100MB/s read and 40MB/s write.

We’ve reviewed many Samsung microSD cards and accessories over the various generations in Samsung’s portfolio; however, the release of the Pro Endurance marks another step forward for the microSD card lineup. The card builds on the previous model released in 2021, however with the new release comes a few more features such as bigger capacity and more of Samsung’s “multi-proofing.”

The Pro Endurance microSD showcases the all-white aesthetic that Samsung has shown in the past for many of the newer cards. Each card is all white with “Samsung” and “Endurance” being highlighted in blue along with all other letterings in gray and the other specifications that come with the mircoSD card.

The Samsung Pro Endurance features enhanced durability as many of the other microSD cards in their portfolio, called “6-multi proof protection.” This multi-proof protection comprises protection against weather conditions, x-ray, magnetic-proof, and more. The full outline is as follows from Samsung.

  • WaterProof: Survives up to 72 hours in 1-meter depth of seawater
  • TemperatureProof: Endures temperatures from 25°C to 85°C (13°F to 185°F)
  • XRayProof: Protects from damage caused by airport Xray machines (100mGy/210sec)
  • MagnetProof: Resists magnetic fields of up to the equivalent of a highfield MRI scanner (15,000 Gauss)
  • DropProof: Withstands drops up to 5 meters (16.4 feet)
  • WearoutProof: Passes a durability test of 10,000 swipes

Samsung has also continued its authentication utility software in which the software is able to distinguish official Samsung products from others. Users can quickly check whether or not Samsung memory cards (SD and microSD) and UFD are genuine from Samsung.

The Samsung Pro Endurance microSD is available now and comes in four different storage capacities of 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. The manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP) range from $10.99 for the 32GB to $54.99 for the 256GB, which is consistent with Amazon’s pricing.

Samsung Pro Endurance microSD Performance

We tested the Samsung Pro Endurance microSD card with the bundled SD card adapter via our Lenovo ThinkPad P17 testbed.

Starting with the popular Blackmagic Design benchmark, the Pro Endurance shows slightly under what the spec sheet indicated with 90.3MB/s read right below the reported 100MB/s. For write, it was actually above what was indicated with 78.8MB/s write, almost double the reported 40MB/s.

Switching to synthetic testing using the IOMeter test, we saw a very similar performance to that in the Blackmagic Design test. In our sequential test, we saw 89.14MB/s read and 39.89MB/s write, while our 2MB random results were 84.86MB/s read and 64.26MB/s write. Lastly, our 4K random performance saw 1,935 IOPS read and 704 IOPS write.

IOMeter
Test Results
2MB sequential write 39.89MB/s
2MB sequential read 89.14MB/s
2MB random write 64.26MB/s
2MB random read 84.86MB/s
4K random Write 704 IOPS
4K random Read 1,935 IOPS

Conclusion

Samsung is a well-known reputable brand known for releasing high-quality products, some being affordable microSD cards, like the updated Pro Endurance. While the Pro Endurance card can meet recording or surveillance needs with up to 140,000 hours of content and up to 16 years, the Pro Endurance is also an all-around good mircoSD card for content creators.

For our testing, the results that we saw were right in line with the reports that Samsung has released, seeing 90MB/s read and 79MB/s write in our Blackmagic Design Benchmark. In our IOMeter test, we saw 89MB/s read and 40MB/s write in the 2MB sequential test, both of these tests show exactly what we were expecting from Samsung.

The all-new Samsung Pro Endurance features six-proof durability such as water, temperature, x-ray, magnet, drop, and wear-out protection. Along with warranties ranging from 2 to 5 years depending on the model, users can expect each SD card to last quite a while, (up to 13 years as reported by Samsung). The Pro Endurance pricing is reasonable as well, making it a great all-around card for creators.
