This version is an evolutionary release that introduces new features in security analytics, AI-driven malware detection, expanded support for various hypervisors, and simplified deployment processes. The update is aimed at enterprises that need consistent protection and recovery across diverse environments, while avoiding proprietary appliances and vendor lock-in. ### Security, Ransomware Protection, and AI-Driven Analytics Security is the primary focus of Veeam Data Platform v13. The release brings deeper behavioral threat detection, forensics, and AI-powered analysis directly into the platform. The **Recon Scanner 3.0**, developed by Coveware and integrated into the **Veeam Data Platform**, provides visibility into threat activity across monitored endpoints. It identifies suspicious behaviors, such as brute-force attempts and unusual file operations, and organizes findings in a centralized triage inbox with severity ratings and contextual information. This triage process integrates with **Veeam ONE Threat Center**, which provides security dashboards for real-time analytics. Users can adjust suppression rules to filter out low-value alerts, reducing alert fatigue while keeping significant risks visible. The Recon Scanner also aligns its findings with the **MITRE ATT&CK framework** to provide a standardized context for incident responders. Integration with Microsoft Sentinel helps to correlate this intelligence with broader security data. The **Malware Analysis AI Agent from Veeam** detects, classifies, and reports malware and suspicious activity, providing actionable insights and remediation guidance to ensure the integrity of restore points, especially during ransomware incidents. Access control is reinforced through least-privilege security models and centralized authentication via SAML-based Single Sign-On (SSO). By default, backups are immutable to help prevent unauthorized modification or deletion. ![]() Veeam also maintains security and IT Service Management (ITSM) integrations with platforms like CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, Splunk, and ServiceNow, embedding Veeam signals into existing workflows for unified detection and response. ## Workload Coverage, Cloud Adoption, and AI-Ready Mobility V13 builds on Veeam’s extensive workload coverage and delivers fast, flexible mobility, essential for cloud adoption, cyber recovery, and AI-driven initiatives. **Instant Recovery to Microsoft Azure,** which enables rapid recovery of critical workloads directly into Azure. This capability allows organizations to restore workloads into a secure environment for validation, forensics, or temporary production. This approach minimizes downtime and enhances responses to ransomware attacks and disaster recovery (DR) testing. ![]() V13 also expands support for various hypervisors. It now includes native support for **Scale Computing HyperCore, which** is particularly beneficial for edge and remote-office/branch-office (ROBO) deployments. Additional platforms, such as HPE Morpheus VM Essentials, Citrix XenServer, and XCP-ng, are scheduled to be supported soon, offering customers more options for standardizing virtualization across data centers, edge locations, and service providers. Planned capabilities for 2026 further emphasize flexibility. OpenShift Virtualization Support will introduce native host-based VM backup and recovery for Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization. This feature will complement existing Kubernetes-native protection provided by Veeam Kasten, catering to organizations consolidating VMs and containers on OpenShift. Furthermore, a universal hypervisor integration API will allow any hypervisor vendor to seamlessly integrate with Veeam’s backup and recovery solutions via a standardized interface. This initiative is designed to future-proof customer environments as new virtualization and cloud platforms emerge, ensuring that backup strategies remain independent of infrastructure choices. These developments align with the preferences of buyers who seek freedom of choice in hypervisors and cloud providers while maintaining a unified data protection and recovery control plane. ## Simplicity, Openness, and Cost Efficiency Veeam continues to prioritize simplicity and openness, avoiding reliance on proprietary hardware and restrictive deployment models. Version 13 includes enhancements designed to reduce operational overhead and lower the total cost of ownership. The Veeam Software Appliance with High Availability is a hardened, Linux-based turnkey appliance that can be deployed in just minutes. It self-updates and eliminates the need for OS management, ensuring uninterrupted operations through its high availability. As it is delivered as software, it avoids hardware lock-in while offering many lifecycle benefits associated with appliance-based solutions. This approach can yield a more favorable cost profile than fixed-function backup appliances, especially at scale. A new modern web console introduces a customer-hosted, browser-based management experience. It is designed to simplify initial setup, minimize the need for supporting infrastructure, and streamline day-to-day administration. The user interface caters to teams that prefer lightweight, web-native management tools over heavy client software. ![]() Overall, v13 is positioned as a platform that combines advanced security and intelligence with operational simplicity. It provides enterprises with tools to maintain availability, reduce risk, and support modernization initiatives without binding them to a single infrastructure stack. ## Strategic Direction and Vision Veeam leadership positions v13 as a significant step in the company’s roadmap. During the Veeam CEO Anand Eswaran reaffirmed the company’s commitment to advancing true data protection. He described v13 as a major step toward integrating protection, security, governance, and AI trust into a unified, intelligent platform for enhanced cyber resilience. The platform is framed as a foundation for unifying data protection, security, governance, and AI trust within a single intelligent data platform. The message is that Veeam intends to provide a long-term control plane that spans traditional infrastructure, multi-cloud environments, and emerging AI workloads without sacrificing openness or portability. ## Availability Veeam Data Platform v13 is available now through Veeam’s global network of authorized partners, resellers, and distributors.
