By integrating NetApp’s intelligent data infrastructure with Red Hat OpenShift, customers gain greater flexibility to manage their virtualized environments seamlessly on-premises and across hybrid multicloud configurations. Red Hat OpenShift, a leading hybrid cloud application platform powered by Kubernetes, is trusted by most of the top 25 Global Fortune 500 companies to streamline application lifecycles and drive innovation, particularly in AI. With this expanded partnership, NetApp is enhancing its intelligent data infrastructure to reduce costs and increase flexibility within Red Hat OpenShift environments. This enables customers to develop, manage, secure, and protect Kubernetes containerized workloads and virtualized applications. ![]() Jonsi Stefansson, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at NetApp, highlighted the importance of agility and flexibility in today’s technology landscape, stating that organizations need adaptable strategies to succeed. According to Stefansson, modern enterprise applications require high performance, secure storage, and advanced data management capabilities. NetApp’s intelligent data infrastructure, integrated with Red Hat OpenShift, provides customers with a faster, more straightforward way to manage their virtualized environments, enhancing performance, mobility, and security for data managed in Red Hat OpenShift AI. NetApp is introducing new capabilities, like Trident integration, that provide increased flexibility in deploying and managing virtual environments through Red Hat OpenShift. NetApp’s Trident integration enhances the container storage interface (CSI) for Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization, giving customers direct access to NetApp ONTAP’s advanced replication and disaster recovery features. This integration allows operations and DevOps teams to use ONTAP functionality within familiar interfaces, simplifying workflows and enabling seamless data management. The updated Trident version includes built-in protection, migration, and disaster recovery at no extra cost. It supports Google Cloud NetApp Volumes, ensuring high-performance, persistent storage for evolving virtualized environments. NetApp has also introduced validated designs for deploying Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization and OpenShift AI on Cisco FlexPod’s converged infrastructure, providing customers with a single, integrated support system. This solution combines virtualization, container management, networking, server, and storage capabilities, offering a cohesive foundation for running modern and AI-driven workloads. These validated designs give Red Hat OpenShift users confidence in performance and compatibility within a secure, scalable infrastructure. NetApp also integrates with Red Hat OpenShift Dedicated on Google Cloud, allowing customers to use NetApp Volumes as a first-party storage option. This setup enables access to persistent enterprise storage on Google Cloud with support from Red Hat for cluster management. Customers can seamlessly migrate OpenShift workloads to Google Cloud, using NetApp’s data infrastructure for reliable storage and data protection in a cloud environment.
