Altaro Releases VM Backup v6 With VMware Support

Today Altaro Software released the latest version of its VM Backup software, version 6. Along with the release is the renaming of the product; formally the product was known as Altaro Hyper-V Backup. The product has been renamed as it now supports backing up VMware VMs as well as Hyper-V VMs. Administrators are able to backup either or both VM types from within the same application.

The product has been renamed as it now supports backing up VMware VMs as well as Hyper-V VMs. Administrators are able to backup either or both VM types from within the same application.

Altaro has made a number of performance improvements and backup and restore functionality that is now available for both Hyper-V and VMware VMs. Altaro also added a Central Management Console giving administrators the ability to manage their backup and restore jobs all Hyper-V and/or VMware hosts present. Altaro states that this will make its product more scalable and it will perform well in larger environments. Though it added new features and abilities the price has remained the same.

Availability and pricing

Altaro VM Backup v6 is available now and is offered in three editions: a free edition that protects up to two VMs, a standard edition that protects up to five VMs, and an unlimited edition protecting an unlimited number of VMs. The standard edition is $395 and the unlimited edition is $585.
