As VMworld 2018 is about to kick off tonight and into the next few days, AMD announced a new vGPU for high-performance graphics in the datacenter, the AMD Radeon PRO V340. The new virtual GPU is designed to tackle the most demanding datacenter visualization workloads, including CAD, design, Desktop as a Service (DaaS) and rendering. AMD will be demoing the vGPU at booth #2501 at VMworld.
Creative professionals no longer just leverage large workstations to work on; they, like the rest of the workforce, are largely on the move working remotely. This means that they need graphics power wherever they may be. AMD Radeon PRO V340 is a dual vGPU built off of the company's Vega architecture. This architecture will allow the vGPU to deliver both high density and high-performance. Based on AMD's MxGPU Technology, the company claims that the V340 is the first VDI hardware solution equipped with 32GB ultra-fast memory to provide massive amounts of bandwidth for complex media and design workloads.
