Asigra Inc has announced the Asigra Cloud Backup Evolved Plug-in for iXsystems’ FreeNAS configured with the company’s latest software, version 14. With the combination of the FreeNAS storage operating system and the new Asigra Cloud Backup Evolved plug-in for FreeNAS, Asigra believes that it will offer comprehensive data protection, which is highlighted by effective anti-ransomware capabilities. Asigra’s strategic relationship with iXsystems allows customers with FreeNAS systems to easily implement the Asigra Cloud Backup Evolved plug-in.

The new FreeNAS plug-in enables a fully agentless backup of all devices on networks. Asigra automatically compresses, encrypts, and deduplicates data from designated desktops, laptops, servers, mobile devices, and cloud sources before it goes to the FreeNAS system.

The Asigra FreeNAS solution also features a signature-less malware detection engine that identifies and quarantines unauthorized or malicious embedded code from penetrating backup and replication streams. It constantly scans all backed-up data so it can automatically prevent ransomware attacks from impacting the backup and recovery processes.

To help stop rapidly growing malware attacks on backup data such as ransomware Attack-Loops, the software-based solution converges data protection and cybersecurity. As a fully agentless backup solution, it manages data volumes with global data deduplication and provides organizations with full encryption with FIPS 140-2 support. With its rapid data restoration, the Asigra Cloud Backup Evolved plug-in also limits downtime and provides automatic file-versioning and point-in-time restoration.

Pricing and Availability

Asigra Cloud Backup Evolved for FreeNAS is available now at no cost for up to ten systems and ten cloud accounts.
