Today DataDirect Networks (DDN) announced its intent to acquire Nexenta, the market leader in Software Defined Storage (SDS) for 5G and Internet of Things (IoT). The acquisition will help broaden DDN’s AI and multi-cloud management while bringing in Nexenta’s 5G, IoT, and SDS to DDN’s customers. The new division created will be Nexenta by DDN.

Currently they have roughly 3,000 customers and over $100 million worth of software deployed globally (this makes them the world’s largest app-agnostic pure play SDS vendor). The acquisition not only brings these customers and benefits to DDN, broadening its product and technology portfolio, it will bring the benefits of Nexenta to a larger customer base through DDN’s reach. DDN’s divisions are now:
Current Nexenta customers need not worry as Nexenta by DDN will continue to offer SDS solutions through its distribution and reseller partners with all existing platforms and components. Partners and customers will receive news in the coming months about new solutions and roadmaps.
