Dell Announces Availability Of Its DSS Branded Servers

A few months ago Dell announced its new Datacenter Scalable Solutions (DSS) line of business. This line of business is aimed at businesses that normally fall through the crack between traditional datacenters and hyperscale (web tech, telecommunications service providers, hosting companies, oil and gas, and research organizations). Today at Dell World 2015, Dell Inc. is announcing the global availability of its DSS line.

This line of business is aimed at businesses that normally fall through the crack between traditional datacenters and hyperscale (web tech, telecommunications service providers, hosting companies, oil and gas, and research organizations). Today at Dell World 2015, Dell Inc. is announcing the global availability of its DSS line.

Dell has been engaging with over 200 customers to see their needs and introduce products based off of these needs. The DSS product line use open and industry-standard management and are purpose built for the needs for customers’ needs and goals. The DSS line offers several minimalistic designed servers that give customers the right mix of performance, scalability, and flexibility.

Dell has introduced several new severs that address customers issues the 1U and 2U DSS 1500, DSS 1510 and DSS 2500 and the highly dense 4U DSS 7000. The DSS 7000 has up to 720TB of capacity in its 4U chassis, 90 3.5” hot-serviceable drive bays, and two 2-socket server nodes. The smaller servers feature flexible storage and IO options, industry-standard baseboard management controller (BMC) systems management, and the latest Intel Xeon processors.

  • 4 x 3.5” cabled, 4 x 3.5” hot- plug, or 8 x 2.5” hot-plug

Availability

Dell Datacenter Scalable Solutions DSS 7000, 1510, 1500 and 2500 are available globally today.
