Dell Rapid Recovery Software Announced

Hot on the heal’s of their historic acquisition, Dell has announced their next-generation Dell Data Protection | Rapid Recovery software. Specifically designed for the cloud, the new software integrates the features of AppAssure as well as other Dell solutions built to help reduce downtime for customer environment.


Hot on the heal’s of their historic acquisition, Dell has announced their next-generation Dell Data Protection | Rapid Recovery software. Specifically designed for the cloud, the new software integrates the features of AppAssure as well as other Dell solutions built to help reduce downtime for customer environment.

Dell’s Rapid Recovery software features Rapid Snap for Applications, a technology that captures an entire application and its relevant state with Dell indicating that it offers complete application and system recovery at almost zero recovery time objectives (RTO) and a very aggressive recovery point objectives (RPO). Based on Dell vRanger technology, the new Rapid Snap for Virtual features provides scalable protection of growing VMware environments without the need for agents. It also automatically detects and backs up VMs provisioned on an ESXi host.

Simple bare metal restore (BMR) from cloud-based archives, as well as built in cloud to cloud replication, archive and restores at the file level with only a few clicks of the mouse button. In addition, the new solution features a Rapid Recovery Repository (R3), consisting of encryption and client-side deduplication that is based on Rapid Data Access (RDA) technology. Dell indicates that R3 provides direct-to-target backups and significantly reduces the deduplication workload, which results in improved snapshots, faster data transfer times, and greater scale.

Dell has also announced that it expanding its capability around endpoint protection with the first release of Dell Data Protection | Endpoint Recovery. This solution is new software designed to provide continuous backup as well as fast, easy endpoint recovery.

Dell is also offering new simplified pricing scheme for vRanger, allowing organizations to grow their virtual environments access to a scalable VM backup solution starting at just $699. This is inclusive of 24/7 support.

Availability and Pricing

Dell Data Protection | Rapid Recovery is slated for a global release sometime in Q4 starting at $1,199. Additionally, it will be available as a free upgrade for AppAssure license holders.
