Fusion-io has announced a partnership with NetApp to integrate Fusion-io’s server-side flash and caching products with the NetApp Virtual Storage Tier. The two companies are collaborating on compatibility between the Fusion ioMemory platform and NetApp’s Data ONTAP operating system, as well as caching solutions including NetApp Flash Cache, NetApp Flash Pool and Fusion-io caching software.
NetApp Virtual Storage Tier solutions are designed to allow customers to reduce datacenter footprint and increase storage utilization by matching matches data with the storage infrastructure best aligned with customer lifecycle and performance objectives. Fusion-io brings technology for server-side application acceleration and data decentralization for virtualization, cloud and big data environments to the partnership.
This announcement marks the latest partnership between Fusion-io and a major OEM in 2012. StorageReview has also recently covered the announcement of second-generation Fusion-io Accelerators for HP’s ProLiant server series and the availability of Fusion’s ioMemory mezzanine card for Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) blade servers.
