HP has announced StoreEasy NAS, the next generation of its Windows-based NAS platform which will feature Windows Storage Server 2012 and will be available on December 10. The company has also announced the rebranding of its LeftHand storage family, which will now feature Fibre Channel connectivity and be known as HP StoreVirtual.
HP will maintain the LeftHand brand for StoreVirtual’s software, which has previously been known as SAN/iQ. Both product families are intended for the SMB market, while StoreVirtual also also targets midrange enterprise clients where fibre channel connectivity provides a new advantage for the platform.

New StoreEasy Solutions
HP has announced three solutions that round out its new StoreEasy family:
Through Windows Storage Server 2012, the StoreEasy NAS systems support primary storage block optimized deduplication. StoreEasy also offers HP Hosted BranchCache, which keeps frequently used content local to reduce costs and time to move data between offices. HP StoreEasy provides continuously-available storage functionality with transparent failover, reduced downtime due to component failures with active-active clustering, and improved network throughput via NIC teaming and multi-channel.
New StoreVirtual Solutions
New StoreVirtual Storage 4130 and 4330 clustered-node systems use ProLiant Gen8 server hardware, and the 4330 supports 8 Gbps Fibre Channel. Neither systems support SSD storage, but HP does offer an all-flash array.
Pricing and Availability
The HP StoreEasy Storage 1000 system will be available on December 10, with estimated prices starting at $5,192 for 8TB capacity. The HP StoreEasy Storage 3000 and 5000 are expected by early 2013.
LeftHand P4000 G2 owners can download and install the updated LeftHand OS. The StoreVirtual 4130 and 4330 will be generally available December 4. Pricing for a 4130 storage node starts at $11,500 for 2.4 TB raw capacity using four 600GB disk drives.
