IDC Releases 2Q19 Worldwide Server Tracker for the Converged Systems Market

International Data Corporation (IDC) ran its quarterly Worldwide Server Tracker for the second quarter of the worldwide converged systems market, reporting an increase of 10.9% year over year to $3.9 billion. Though this percentage was significantly lower than last quarter, it was roughly the same increase we saw last year during this time (i.e., 9.9%). Nonetheless, Dell has again showed top revenue and market share as the number one global provider of hyper converged systems, showing a growth of 35.9 % year over year (vs. +10.9% year over year of the overall industry) and capturing a 33.8% share. At number two, Nutanix reported $258.8 million in branded revenue for a 14.2% share, though it declined by 6% year over year.

The overall HCI system sales segment reported $1.8 billion in 2Q19 revenue with a growth of 23.7% year over year and continues to make up the largest segment of the overall Converged Systems industry at 46.6%.

Dell also lead the traditional converged systems segment (Certified Reference Systems+ Integrated Systems (CRS+II)) segment once again, with a 59.5% revenue share. This was due to its VxBlock Systems, Ready Solutions and Ready Stack, which helped marked 30 consecutive quarters as the leader in this segment. Overall, the CRS+II grew 10.5% year over year (at $1.5 billion in 2Q19) and accounts for 37.5% of total converged systems revenue. For integrated platforms, sales declined 14.4% year over year during the second quarter of 2019, generating $626 million worth of sales and amounting to 16.0% of the total converged systems market revenue

Dell EMC’s CRS+II revenue of $872.5 million increased more than 36.4% year over year in 2Q19.
