LaCie has announced an operating system update for their Network 2 products. The updates are aimed at making backing up and sharing information easier.
New features include NAS to NAS backup, which allows backups to another LaCie storage devices within the network or over the Internet. It’s now easier to encrypt or compress data and perform incremental backups to save drive real estate. Simplified remote access is another major change along with better access via their iPad/iPhone app.
The Network 2 line of products are targeted to small business and other professional uses. If you’ve purchased a d2 Network2, 2big Network 2, or 5big Network 2, then the upgrade is free from LaCie. The iPad app can be downloaded through the app store.
