Today Lexar announced the latest Lexar Professional 1000x microSDXC UHS-II (U3) memory card with a capacity up to 256GB. Because of its small footprint and high capacity, the new microSD card is ideal for use cases such as sports camcorders, tablets, and smartphones. Not only does the Professional 1000x microSDXC UHS-II card have more capacity, it can hit transfer speeds of 150MB/s read and 90MB/s write.

Sports cameras, such as the GoPro, have a growing following. As more and more users are creating content and the content has better and better quality, users need more capacity and higher performance. The new card can capture up to 9 hours of 4K video and its high speed allows for extended capture of 4K, 3D, and 1080p full-HD video. The higher capacity is good for aerial camera use in drones, as users don’t have to switch out the cards. And the cards are compatible with GoPro cameras, having completed the ‘Works with GoPro’ verification process.

Another benefit of the Lexar Professional 1000x microSD cards is for phones and tablets that are compatible with microSD cards. The new card gives users tons of more room for downloading and moving files. Lexar states that the 256GB is equal to 36 hours of HD video, 67,600 photos, or 58,100 songs.

The new card is backward compatible with UHS-I devices. Like the rest of Lexar’s Professional line memory cards, the new card also comes with a lifetime copy of downloadable Image Rescue software to recover most photo and select video files, even if they’ve been erased or the card has been corrupted. The card comes with a limited-lifetime warranty and the USB ready has a 1-year warranty.

Availability

The 256GB Professional 1000x microSDXC UHS-II card is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2017 and will have a MSRP of $349.99. The Lexar Professional 1000x microSDXC/microSDHC cards are also available in the following capacities: 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB.
