OCZ on their latest quarterly financial call confirmed that the Vertex 4 will be based on the new Everest 2 platform. This goes against many assumptions that the Vertex 4 would use the next-generation SandForce processor. The Everest 2 platform, which should start shipping June, indicates a probable summer release for the OCZ Vertex 4 enthusiast class SSD.
The Indilinx controller is claimed to offer incompressible write speeds up to 550MB/s and random I/O performance of 105,000 random read and 90,000 random write. No other news besides the information from the quarterly call is known at this point, but stay tuned as we find out more about the exciting future for the Vertex 4.
