QNAP has launched the TS-364, a new 3-bay RAID5 NAS, outfitted with M.2 PCIe Gen3 NVMe SSD slots and 2.5GbE connectivity. The new QNAP NAS is designed for home/office environments, supporting light virtualization/containers and HDMI output. It’s ideal for centralized storage, backup, file sharing, and multimedia use cases and features the usual suite of NAS applications from QNAP to help boost productivity and the user entertainment experience.
Powered by an Intel Celeron N5105/N5095 quad-core 4-thread processor (with burst up to 2.9 GHz), the TS-364 features an Intel AES-NI encryption engine and 4GB of DDR4 memory. Moreover, it supports cache acceleration and Qtier for improved performance, as well as Edge TPU for AI image recognition. For connectivity, the TS-364 comes equipped with a 2.5GbE port, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps) port, and two USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) ports. Users can also increase capacity via QNAP’s TL and TR storage expansion enclosures.
Like all of their NAS solutions, the TS-364 is managed by the company’s latest QTS 5.0 operating system, featuring apps such as File Station, Hybrid Backup Sync, Virtualization Station, Container Station, and QVR Elite, the latter of which helps deploy smart surveillance systems. Those using it for the home will have a range of multimedia applications (like Plex), streaming capabilities, and a built-in HDMI port.
Overall it’s a pretty robust package for a small box. A three-bay NAS isn’t entirely new but it’s certainly uncommon. The extra drive bay compared to a traditional two-bay NAS will net you double the capacity, albeit without any additional RAID resiliency.
