QNAP Systems has released the new TVS-x72N 5GbE, the latest addition to their NAS portfolio focusing on cost-effective hybrid cloud storage environments. Equipped with an 8th Generation Intel Core i3 processors and available in both 6-bay and 8-bay models, the TVS-x72N features a 5GBASE-T port for seamless 4K video transfer, display, and editing. It also comes outfitted with two built-in M.2 SSD slots for SSD caching (and supports two 2.5 inch SSDs), features HBS 3 with data deduplication for faster data backup and recovery, and provides cloud storage gateway functions. Users can add additional M.2 SSDs using the PCIe expansion slot via QNAP’s QM2 expansion card to create a low-latency, high-performance cloud storage access.
The TVS-x72N is equipped with Intel UHD Graphics 630, which enables triple-channel 4K H.264 hardware decoding and real-time transcoding and features an HDMI 2.0 output that supports 4K resolution at 60Hz. Moreover, the TVS-x72N also allows direct playback of NAS-based multimedia content on high-definition displays.
Like all QNAP devices, the TVS-x72N series is managed by QTS, the company’s NAS operating system. This OS offers users a range of functionality and features, such as the HBS 3 data backup and recovery solution, block-based snapshot protection, and the ability to host multiple virtual machines and containerized applications. Using the QVR Pro app, users can a feature-rich (yet affordable) video surveillance system that supports 8 free IP camera channels.
