Synology has added to new products to their massive portfolio of storage solutions: the RackStation RS1619xs+ 1U 4-bay rackmount NAS and the DS1819+ 8-bay NAS. Ideal for small- and medium-sized businesses that run IO-intensive tasks, the RS1619xs+ offers flexible storage scalability and M.2 SSD support. It features a Quad-core CPUs, up to 64GB of DDR4 memory and an optional 10GbE adaptor. The DS1819+ includes an Intel quad-core 2.1 GHz processor and can scale to a total of 18 drive bays (for a total of 216TB in raw capacity) when connected to two DX517 expansion units.
Using Synology’s Central Management System software, users can “designate” the RS1619xs+ as the host server so it can function as a single interface to monitor and maintain a business servers, while offering quick and easy status updates. Users can also create server groups so they can apply different settings and delegate administrator permissions to separate server groups and users.
The RS1619xs+ can function as an organization’s surveillance server as well. With Synology’s Surveillance Station software, users can connect and manage up to 75 IP cameras. The Application Center also has 26 applications and utilities that help to customize the Surveillance Station to fit unique scenarios.
RS1619xs+ key features:
The DS1819+ includes four gigabit ethernet ports and one PCIe slot for either a 10 GbE network interface card or a M.2 SSD adapter. It is also quoted to deliver sequential throughput at over 2,045MB/s reading and 656MB/s writing under this aggregated 10Gb Ethernet environment. Synology indicates that the DS1819+ will work nicely as a central backup device for small- to medium-sized businesses. Like all Synology NAS devices, the DS1819+ is powered by DiskStation Manager for easy (yet powerful) navigation and system management. With DS1819+ and Synology Drive, users can also create their own private cloud. Drive is a software package the runs on Synology NAS products and allows businesses to synchronize files between client computers or other NAS devices.
