Violin 6264 Flash Memory Array Announced

Violin Memory is announcing its 6264 flash Memory Array which delivers 64TB of capacity in a 3U footprint and adds to the existing 6000 Series offerings. The Violin 6264 is the upper-echelon of the 6200 series which leverages MLC NAND, and the 6264 provides up to 750,000 IOPS and a maximum bandwidth of 4GB/s. Along with the Violin 6264, all 6000 Series arrays feature the Violin Symphony Management System, which enables organizations to access enterprise-wide management of Violin Memory Arrays through a single pane of glass view, from any device. This flexibility provides administrators ease-of-use in managing their robust storage arrays.

This flexibility provides administrators ease-of-use in managing their robust storage arrays.

Compared to its predecessor, the Violin 6264 delivers 2x the density and 3x the economics, aided to this end by Toshiba 19nm MLC NAND. Violin says that their intellectual property enables them to avoid the performance degradation and errors that come with smaller NAND flash lithography. This is particularly significant for Tier 1 organizations.

Violin Symphony Data Management System enables administrators to more easily manage up to petabytes of flash storage across hundreds of Violin Flash Memory Arrays, including the 6264 and other 6000 Series arrays. Violin Symphony can run on mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets, and of course runs on PCs as well.

With it, users can evaluate application performance, check and confirm capacity-used, and track service level trends with customizable dashboard apps on any mobile device. Symphony also provides a built-in advanced analytics engine which delivers information on health and performance aspects of Violin flash Memory Arrays.
