VMware vSAN Support For Klas Telecom’s Voyager Tactical Data Center Announced

VMware announces vSAN support for Klas Telecom’s Voyager Tactical Data Center (Voyager TDC) products, further extending the hyper-converged infrastructure market into harsh environments where low size, weight, power and ruggedization are needed. The main benefit of vSAN is how it simplifies storage and storage management while delivering more performance, so this would certainly be a welcomed addition to Klas Telecom's portfolio.

Klas Telecom is a major tactical market company that develops low size, weight and power (SWaP) communications systems for the network edge. Voyager TDC products are easily transportable and are designed to save time, money and resources due to its smaller hardware footprint by simplifying transportation and logistics and lowering total cost of ownership for customers. Klas Telecom indicates they will validate vSAN with all current and future Voyager TDC configurations.

Moreover, VMware claims that combining Voyager TDC with vSphere and vSAN will allow organizations to rapidly and seamlessly deploy a compact enterprise-grade storage and compute network. This will also give users the ability to access, collect, store, process, analyze and distribute large amounts of data locally opposed to remotely accessing it via a bandwidth-constrained backhaul.
