WD has announced that it has expanded its app offerings by introducing Plex, an entertainment app that can be downloaded to and deployed on the My Cloud NAS series. Plex offers users with a way to organize videos, music and photos from personal media libraries with the ability to stream them to smart TVs, streaming boxes, and mobile devices directly from the cloud.
Plex is also designed with features to make user media management a seamless experience such as providing one simple interface to organize media files and the ability to add descriptions, plot summaries, posters, and album covers to their media files. In addition, Plex allows the creation of customized music or video playlists based on mood, genre, and collection as well as offering functionality to share media to other users.
