Aparavi Announces Active Archive Enhancements

Today Aparavi is announcing enhancements to their Active Archive platform. Aparavi focuses on providing multi-cloud data management services through its Active Archive platform. New features include direct-to-cloud data transfer, new data classification schemes, tagging, full-content search, and adds support for bulk migration to move data from one location to another, including on- or off-premises. Additional cloud destinations have been added and together include AWS, Backblaze B2, Caringo, Cloudian, IBM Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud, Scality, and Wasabi. Data stored in Active Archive is available through C++ and command line APIs in addition to Aparavi's Active Archive platform, which was launched last year.

Direct-to-cloud data transfer provides the ability to archive data directly from source systems to the cloud destination of choice, with minimal local storage requirements. This substantially decreases the on-premises storage and compute requirements. Aparavi claims their updates to Active Archive's classification and tagging capabilities make it simple to classify data based on individual words, phrases, dates, file types, and patterns. This should make it easier to identify and tag data for compliance, reference, or analysis. Aparavi supports users defining their own classifications in addition to including pre-set classifications of "confidential," "legal," and "personally identifiable information." 

Aparavi’s new search interface is designed to allow users to find their data wherever it resides in the archive, whether on-premises or in one or multiple clouds. This means you won’t need to know where the data is stored before you can retrieve it. Active Archive will support full-content search by words or phrases. Patter files can be searched by their metadata, including classification, tag, date, file name, file type, or optional wildcards. Results are returned intelligently in context for easier identification and are viewed in the cloud or storage destination without retrieving until requested. Current file types supported include any text file, PDF, and modern Microsoft Office formats. Future updates will add images and older Microsoft Office formats.
