Barracuda Announces General Availability of Backup 6.0 And Backup 995

Today Barracuda announced the general availability of Barracuda Backup 6.0. Barracuda also announced the availability of their new backup appliance Barracuda Backup 995. The releases are part of Barracuda’s Data Protection Plus strategic initiative aimed at helping customers protect, manage, and share data through any device they use and from anywhere they are.

The releases are part of Barracuda’s Data Protection Plus strategic initiative aimed at helping customers protect, manage, and share data through any device they use and from anywhere they are.

Barracuda Backup 6.0 – extends the flexibility for businesses that are deploying in cloud-connected or private “dark” environments. The latest version includes several updates including:

  • Local control, enabling operation and management in private environments without sending data to the cloud
  • Granular recovery of Microsoft Hyper-V, for faster recovery times without the need to restart the VM
  • Backup and recovery support for Microsoft SQL Server 2014
  • Offsite replication and health notifications for site-to-site replication

Barracuda Backup 995 – a new 4U form factor model in the backup line, aimed at small and medium sized business, that offers customers even more flexibility in their choice for a backup solution. Features include:

  • 72TB of usable storage
  • Inline Data Deduplication
  • Integrated Cloud Replication
  • Site-to-Site Replication
  • LiveBoot and Cloud LiveBoot
  • Granular File and Message Recovery
  • Unified Cloud Management Interface
  • No per-server or per-application fees
  • Local Management Interface for Private Environments
  • 28×4 TB Redundant Disk Array (RAID)
  • Hot Swappable Redundant Power Supplies
  • Hot Swappable Disks

Availability and pricing

Barracuda Backup 6.0 is now available and free to existing customers on current platforms with an active Energize Updates subscription. Barracuda Backup starts at $999 for the appliance and $199 for an Energize Updates subscription.
