Carbonite has announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire EVault, a division of Seagate Technology and provider of business continuity and disaster recovery. With the acquisition, Carbonite believes that it will be able provide a full suite of solutions that are cost-effective, easy to use and meet the needs of all SMBs. A purchase price of $14 million in cash was set for all of the assets of EVault’s operations.
As part of the agreement, the following EVault products will be added to the Carbonite solution suite:
Carbonite expects to complete the acquisition of the North American assets of EVault by January 2016 while European Union assets of EVault are planned to be added sometime during the first quarter of 2016. The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions, applicable laws, compliance requirements and customary closing conditions.
