Commvault Announces Commvault IntelliSnap For NetApp

Today Commvault announced a new array-based snapshot management solution, Commvault IntelliSnap for NetApp. This new solution will be offered as a replacement for NetApp SnapProtect. Commvault states that the new solution will accelerate and simplifies data protection and recovery for NetApp customers while enabling them to expand to the full range of Commvault’s data protection solutions.


Today Commvault announced a new array-based snapshot management solution, Commvault IntelliSnap for NetApp. This new solution will be offered as a replacement for NetApp SnapProtect. Commvault states that the new solution will accelerate and simplifies data protection and recovery for NetApp customers while enabling them to expand to the full range of Commvault’s data protection solutions.

This announcement expands on Commvault’s latest generation of solutions portfolio. The announcement also further expands the relationship between NetApp and Commvault, other joint announcements include their backup appliance. Commvault IntelliSnap for NetApp will simplify the management of snapshots on NetApp Arrays across all business-critical applications, enabling full application recovery while eliminating the need for complex scripts and manual processes. The solution works by combining high-speed snapshot copies and disk-to-disk replication with traditional tape backup processes in a single solution.

NetApp and its resellers will be able to sell Commvault IntelliSnap for NetApp with NetApp storage in a single transaction. This will provide a clear path to add Commvault software modules for existing and new NetApp customer environments.
