Crucial has announced various SSD and DRAM news during Computex 2015, including significant updates to its Storage Executive tool, Crucial Ballistix DDR4 16GB performance memory, and the general sampling of Crucial DDR4 2400MT/s 8Gb-based RDIMM, LRDIMM, and ECC UDIMM server modules.

Storage Executive

The newest version of Storage Executive (version 3.20) features Momentum Cache, which is an intelligent caching technology that can enhance burst performance by up to 10x, and allows users to extend SSD lifetime by reducing redundant writes. In addition, the tool uses idle memory for caching as needed along with a seamless installation using the Storage Executive interface.

In addition to the new features, Storage Executive also allows users to:

  • Update to the latest firmware
  • Monitor drive’s temperature and health
  • Reset the drive’s encryption password
  • Easily check how much storage has been used

Crucial Storage Executive downloaded from www.crucial.com/se and is compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 and newer operating systems using the Crucial M500, M550, MX100, MX200, and BX100 SSDs.

Crucial Ballistix DDR4 16GB

Crucial Ballistix DDR4 16GB performance memory is specifically designed for gamers and enthusiasts work with content creation, virtual machines, RAM drives, and memory-intensive applications. Crucial indicates that the new Ballistix modules take advantage of Micron’s new 8Gb DDR4 component technology to offer up the highest density DDR4 memory to date.

Additionally, with Ballistix DDR4 16GB modules, users can now achieve greater densities on high-end desktop systems such as with the latest Intel X99 platforms. Available across Sport LT, Tactical, and Elite product lines, each module includes Intel XMP 2.0 profiles, which allows for easy setup and support.

Crucial DDR4 2400MT/s

Crucial also announced that they are now sampling Crucial DDR4 2400MT/s 8Gb-based RDIMM, LRDIMM, and ECC UDIMM server modules via their Technology Enablement Program. The 8Gb-based DDR4 memory is built to enable higher density modules, allowing for increased performance, bandwidth, and energy efficiency.

Crucial indicates that when combined with the next DDR4 speed increase of 2400MT/s, higher density modules create greater channel bandwidth and channel density in addition to increased energy efficiency. As a result, these benefits offer users with more value per gigabit than current 4Gb-based offerings, delivering a lower total cost of ownership for users. Inclusive of a limited lifetime warranty, the Crucial 8Gb-based server memory are also designed for the next-generation processor product families and is tested to mission-critical standards along with a limited lifetime warranty.

Availability

The Storage Executive version 3.20 is available now while an equivalent version of the tool is also available for Micron client SSDs at micron.com/storage-executive.

The Crucial DDR4 2400MT/s 8Gb-based RDIMM, LRDIMM, and ECC UDIMM server modules are slated for a late July release and will be included in the Reliance Program.

The Ballistix DDR4 16GB memory is expected to ship in late July as well and will be available in 16GB modules or in kits up to 128GB.
