Today Dell EMC announced that latest version of its Elastic Cloud Storage, ECS 3.3. The latest version of the company’s enterprise-ready object storage is stated to accelerate and secure data-driven initiatives. Dell EMC also states that ECS 3.3 has cloud-like capabilities but lower TCO of public cloud services.
As we’ve previously said, ECS is designed to handle the incredible amount of object data that is now being generated by trends such as mobile devices, social media, and the Internet of Things (IoT). This gives it a leg up over traditional storage platforms that aren’t designed to handle these huge amounts of object data. With the release of version 3.0, ECS added more cloud like features such as a dedicated cloud service and cloud tiering. Today’s release comes with new software enhancements to accelerate initiatives and give customers ease of used with capturing, storing, protecting and managing their unstructured data.
