Today Dell Inc. announced the industry’s first ISV-certified virtual workstation appliance solution, Dell Precision Appliance for Wyse. This new appliance is aimed at a variety of organizations from media and entertainment to exploration and energy industries to engineering firms. As the demand for flexible and mobile access to workstation-class performance increases, organizations are looking for ways for their employees to access data and mission-critical tools wherever they are located. Dell is leveraging its Precision Rack r7910 workstation (a bigger brother to the Dell Tower 7810), with its NVIDIA Quadro and GRID GPU technology, and VMware virtualization software, the Dell Precision Appliance for Wyse allows up to 3 users per appliance on a dedicated GPU mode or up to 4 users per appliance in shared GPU mode. There are a diverse set up endpoints that users can connect through such as the above mentioned Precision tower, Dell Wyse dual or quad display thin and zero clients, desktops, laptops, or mobile workstations.
The Dell Precision Appliance for Wyse is an end-to-end solution that is easy plan, deploy, and run. Dell Precision Appliance for Wyse can be deploy in just five minutes after being powered on and can be easily managed without a dedicated IT staff or a limited staff. Administrators can provide need-based access to data and applications and centralize enforcement of security policies that results in easier management, better control of valuable IP, and reduced complexity.
The software that runs on the Dell Precision Appliance for Wyse has been validated and certified from Dell working closely with the ISV community. This certification will give users a similar experience as using a traditional fixed or mobile workstation.
